Vetorep UR458
High performance, solvent-free, polyurethane elastomeric mortar for expansion joint systems.
Vetorep UR458 is a three-component, high performance, solvent-free, polyurethane mortar specially designed for use in expansion joint systems. Engineered for durability and flexibility, this versatile material is excellent for managing structural movement while resisting harsh environmental and mechanical stresses. Vetorep UR458 is supplied in pre-weighed three-part packs of low viscosity component A and component B, and a blend of silica sand aggregate powder as component C.
Uses
- Used with expansion joints for road nosing or reinforcing transition strips.
- Maintenance and repair of existing joint headers/nosing.
- Suitable for bridge decks, ramps, and highways to provide smooth transitions for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
- Adequate for multi-level car parks and open parking lots to seal expansion joints.
- Ideal for construction of large-span structures and stadiums to seal joints in floors and decks exposed to dynamic loads and weather changes.
Advantages
- Solvent-free.
- Durable and robust.
- Capable of withstanding dynamic and cyclic impact loading.

Usage Instructions
The substrate should be sound, clean, and free from loose material, grease, laitance, dirt, or any other substance that might impair the product's bond quality with the substrate. Any deteriorated or fractured asphalt along the perimeter of the block-out must be entirely removed to allow Vetorep UR458 to bond effectively to sound, monolithic surfaces. Any fine cracks in the asphalt located within 200 mm of the block-out must be excised and removed. Laitance and weak surface layers must be removed using mechanical methods such as grinding or abrasive blasting to provide a sound, well-profiled rough surface. Use an epoxy mortar from the Vetorep ER range to repair all necessary areas before applying. New concrete floors should be cured at a minimum of 14 days with a moisture content of less than 5% (test the substrate’s moisture conditions if an earlier application is necessary).
All surfaces receiving Vetorep UR458 should be primed with Vetoprime EP491, designed to prevent any inherent moisture in the concrete from interfering with the product. Maximum allowable moisture content for its application is 5%. Apply Vetoprime EP491 evenly using a brush on a properly prepared and clean concrete surface for maximum adhesion and efficiency. Do not allow the primer to be fully cured prior to the application of Vetorep UR458 Proper priming is an essential step to provide a stable foundation for the product, ensuring improved bond strength and long-term performance.
Vetorep UR458 is supplied in three pre-weighed packs (base, hardener, and aggregate powder) that are ready for on-site use. Do not mix partial quantities as it will affect both the performance and the finished floor’s appearance. Mixing should be carried out using a low-speed, high torque mixing drill with a strong mixing paddle (Collomix DLX mixing head or similar). Ensure that the type and capacity of the mixing equipment is approved by Saveto for optimal results. Mix the components in a suitably sized mixing container. Begin by stirring the base and hardener components separately to ensure uniformity, then combine them in the mixing vessel. Scrape the edges of the containers to include all material and mix the components together for approximately 1 minute or until a homogeneous consistency is achieved. Gradually add the content of the graded aggregate pack and mix for another 2 minutes until the mixture is completely homogeneous.
Once mixed, use Vetorep UR458 within its pot life. Spread the material onto the prepared and primed substrate as soon as mixing is complete. Spread Vetorep UR458 evenly and slowly to the required thickness using a notched trowel or a gauged screed box. Do not overwork the resin. After laying, compact Vetorep UR458 immediately using a wood float or through the facilitation of an automatic resin trowel (helicopter). Screeding rods are useful in maintaining a minimum compacted thickness of 5 mm (5000 microns).
Optimal curing occurs when ambient temperatures range between 10°C and 35°C. At 30°C, the setting time is approximately 20 minutes.
Remove Vetoprime EP491 and Vetorep UR458 from tools and equipment with Vetonit Solvent XX400 immediately after use. Remove hardened material mechanically.
